Version 0.41

I figure I should be making changelogs for this, not because I expect anyone to read them, but because it’s probably good praxis, so here we are.

This version includes the following changes:

  • The introduction of the potion wheel. When you find ingredients for a potion, you can choose to brew a different potion instead but at a higher DL. This adds more player choice to brewing and rewards a higher Scholar proficiency.
  • The introduction of a criminal stipend. Whenever you encounter a new criminal organisation and make friends with them, you gain a number of d2 treasures as a reward equal to your Scoundrel proficiency. This is here to fix a resource issue with Scoundrels, whose main way of doing their thing is through treasures. These d2 treasures are of limited use for the other characters anyway, so making them more widely available wasn’t necessary, but granting a scoundrel more access to them allows them to do lower-DL criminal activities more often.
  • A slow but steady art update. Most of the art is made by vectorising actual photographs, the updated art is actually hand-drawn and then vectorised. It doesn’t necessarily look better, but at least it’s somewhat proper art now. The goal is to eventually replace all the art with actual drawings.
  • Brew DL added to potion cards, because the DL is occasionally relevant and there was room on the cards anyway.
  • Minor graphical updates and wording changes, as well as some internal PDF stuff which should make it easier to navigate.

Update 0.40 simplified prayers significantly. Extra complexity really wasn’t needed for something which is already somewhat wishy-washy.

Hopefully coming at some point:

  • Mapping guidelines, as soon as I come up with a simple and holistic way of doing this.
  • A ruins generator to help with exploration during travel.
  • Rules for magical disease/vampirism.
  • A new dedicated subsystem for athletes and maybe for labourers. It's not really necessary, but it would be nice to have a concrete activity they can focus on. Labourers have items and animals going for them, but Athletes definitely feels like they could use an extra something.
