Version 0.48 — Ruins and Dungeons

The dungeon rules are finally here! I guess that means this game is finally a dungeondelver.

This version includes the following changes:

  • Added rules for designing and travelling through a dungeon. Like everything else in the system, these are quite freeform and not super complex or intricate. Dungeons definitely aren't the main focus of the system, but they are now definitely an option.
  • Added guidelines for creating ruins. Ruins have been part of exploration stuff for quite a while, but with little or no actual support. That has now changed, with a collection of tables to help you come up with unique ruins.
  • Circumvent Armour has been removed as a Warrior ability and moved to the default rules in a reduced capacity. This adds an extra difference between swings and lunges and especially makes daggers more true to life. It also removes one of the more annoying Warrior abilities, since being able to decide if you wanted to activate the ability after rolling slowed things down. In its place, Warriors now get Impassable, which allows them to block paths and essentially act as the protector of more squishy party members.
  • Sneak Attack has been roughly reverted to a previous incarnation. With the generalisation of Circumvent Armour the older implementation was a bit too limited.

Coming soon:

  • Rules for magical corruption/disease/vampirism (almost done).
  • Rules for ghosts.
  • Magic item generation tables.
